Laura Podio was born in the province of La Rioja, in northwestern Argentina. From the year 1996 she has traveled regularly to India and Southeast Asian countries, in which she investigates the roots of religious Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu Art.
She is well training at areas of prevention for health, nutrition and mental area Ayurvedic (traditional medical system of India).
One of her main interests is to link the art field with the health’s areas, through prevention, understanding the arts as a valuable tool for emotional and psychological tool. She is gathering the Hindu ancestral knowledge with the developments of Western Jungian psychology.
She has a degree in Fine Arts, and continues her training in Jungian psychology, Mythology, Vedanta and Tantric Philosophy.
She continuously studies about the symbolism of the archetypes in its various manifestations: myths, dreams, ancient art, Tarot, fairy tales and ancient stories.
She investigates the mandalas at different moments in the Art History in different cultures of the world.
She is developing her artistic activity as a therapist, assisting students in their aesthetic and symbolic profound discoveries.
Along with her husband, Dr. Alfredo H. Lauría, she founded the Argentinean Ayurveda Center
, for clinical practice, education and spread the ancient Medicine of India. Together they presented research papers on the therapeutic use of the Mandalas in Ayurvedic Medicine, and participate as representatives for Argentina at the International Forum of Ayurveda (IFA), committee for the spread and teaching of Ayurveda in the world.
WORK AND ACTIVITIES
• Performs artistic work related to traditional arts Hindu, Tibetan and Southeast Asia, as well as many traditional designs of mandalas and sacred geometry custom. He works in traditional techniques as well as with digital tools.
• His work is exhibited permanently in his studio-workshop in the neighborhood of Palermo, in Buenos Aires, and has work in private collections of Argentina, United States, Belgium, India, Brazil, Costa Rica and other countries in the world.
• Join the Network of artists Mandalas, the project generated by Viviana Mattei, through which organizes various outreach activities, exhibitions and artistic training of educational and therapeutic technique mandala.
• Participates with visual and text on the Agenda "The Mandalas", in its editions 2007, 2008 and 2009, created by Viviana Mattei and edited by Editorial Kier.
